The two songs, recorded two weeks ago, follow the band's reunion shows last summer and are part of an initiative to support Record Store Day on April 17. "The Addams Family" musical disappoints on Broadway NEW YORK - A big-budget Broadway musical adaptation of the classic celebration of eccentricity and morbidity, "The Addams Family," was panned by critics on Friday as bland and boring. The production, which opened on Thursday, stars Nathan Lane as Gomez and Bebe Neuwirth as Morticia. It derives from Charles Addams' New Yorker cartoons that also inspired the 1960s television series and two 1990s movies. Former "Survivor" producer arrested in Mexico over wife's death CANCUN, Mexico - Mexican police arrested a former producer of the "Survivor" television series on Thursday on suspicion of murdering his wife, whose body was found near a luxury hotel where they were staying in Cancun. Bruce Beresford-Redman's Brazilian wife, Monica, went missing on Monday from the Caribbean resort where they were on vacation. Her body was found in mangroves near the hotel. Oprah Winfrey to host new global evening show NEW YORK - Oprah Winfrey will try to recreate her daytime success in the evening with a new show she will host from around the world next year after ending her reign as daytime talk-show queen after 25 years, her network said on Thursday. The new series will be called "Oprah's Next Chapter" and will take Winfrey to India, China and elsewhere, said the Oprah Winfrey Network, or OWN, the Los Angeles-based cable TV venture she formed with Discovery Communications Inc. Just a minute with: Dr. Dre, rapper, entrepreneur BOSTON - For almost three decades Dr. Dre has been a trendsetter in the U.S. music industry, through his recordings with gangsta rappers N.W.A. and later as a producer and record executive who helped launch the careers of Eminem, Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent. Dre's potentially defining, and probably final, musical work is the album Detox, which has achieved near-mythical status after being in production since 2003. Films poke fun at Jews, Muslims, suicide bombers LONDON - Nothing, it seems, is off limits to British comedy, with two films hitting theatres in the next month that poke fun at Muslims, Jews and, perhaps most controversially, suicide bombers. "Four Lions," which received mixed reviews when it premiered at the Sundance film festival earlier this year, hits cinemas on May 7 and satirizes a group of hapless Muslims who decide to blow themselves, and others up during the London Marathon. "Date Night" battles "Titans" at box office LOS ANGELES - The battle for supremacy at the North American box office this weekend amounts to the clash of a titanic 3D holdover and a new comedy for the date-movie crowd. The appropriately titled "Date Night" should appeal to couples and fans of stars Steve Carell and Tina Fey. A bow in the range of $23 million-$27 million looks likely. That could be enough for the Fox release to lead the field. Is Taiwan's male "Whitney Houston" the next Susan Boyle TAIPEI - He's everything Whitney Houston is not -- Taiwanese, male, chubby and unknown -- but Lin Yu-chun is being likened to the pop diva after wowing a talent show with his rendition of one of her most popular songs. Lin, a competitor on popular singing show "Super Star Avenue", floored the judges this week with his pitch-perfect rendition of Houston's "I Will Always Love You", taken from her film "The Bodyguard" that also starred Kevin Costner. Reality supermom Kate Gosselin to get new show NEW YORK - Reality television star and mother of eight Kate Gosselin will have her own TV show called "Twist of Kate" on U.S. cable network TLC, the Discovery owned channel announced on Thursday. In the new show, Gosselin will visit the homes and workplaces of ordinary Americans and dispense ideas and tips for better living. Sex Pistols manager Malcolm McLaren dies from cancer NEW YORK - Malcolm McLaren, the British former manager and the self-proclaimed mastermind behind iconic punk band the Sex Pistols, has died from cancer at a hospital in Switzerland, his girlfriend said. He was 64. "He passed away at a hospital in Switzerland where he was being treated for cancer," said Young Kim.
