PM Lee, President Nathan send condolences to family of Lo Hwei Yen

SINGAPORE: Both Prime Minister Lee Hsien Long and President S R Nathan have extended their deepest condolences to the husband and family of Lo Hwei Yen, the Singaporean woman killed in the Mumbai siege.
In his letter to her husband Michael Puhaindran, a shocked and saddened Mr Lee said all Singaporeans felt for Mr Puhaindran and his family in this time of grief.
Mr Lee said this family tragedy also brought home the reality of the terrorist threat and how important it as to keep up our guard and defeat the terrorist threat.
Mr Lee added that he was in Chile when he first heard about the terrorist attacks.
His immediate concern was for Singaporeans who might be caught up in the situation, as many travel and work all over Asia.
Mr Lee later learnt that Ms Lo had been taken hostage.
While he said words will not count for much, Mr Lee hoped the knowledge that all Singaporeans feel and sympathise with Mr Puhaindran and his family would give them comfort and support.
Meanwhile, President Nathan and his wife have also offered their condolences to the family of Miss Lo.
Mr Nathan said all Singaporeans are outraged at the killing of the innocent 28—year—old.
He said all Singaporeans hope the victim’s family will have the strength and support to bear, with fortitude, and overcome the pain of her tragic parting.
