Loletta Chu remarries in Singapore
Channel NewsAsia - Saturday, November 29
Miss Hong Kong 1977, Loletta Chu registers her marriage in Singapore with chairman of Hong Kong-based Shui On Group, Vincent Lo. Her ex-husband Timothy Fok sends his well-wishes.
It is reported that 50-year-old Chu and 60-year-old Lo solemnized at the Singapore Registry of Marriage on the afternoon of Nov 27 and threw a wedding banquet on the same night. Singer Sally Yeh was guest and bridesmaid of the wedding.
To avoid high profile coverage by the media, the couple only informed their guests of the date of the wedding and kept the venue and time a secret. They subsequently made arrangements to send the guests to the venue.
According to various reports, Lo successfully proposed to Chu earlier this year and have been secretly planning for their wedding since then. They had considered registering in Shanghai or Hong Kong; however on considering her good relations and respect for her late ex-father-in-law, Henry Fok, Chu decided on Singapore instead. Chu did not invite her three sons to the wedding.
After news of Chu's remarriage broke out, her ex-husband became the target of the media. According to reports, Fok was also in Singapore on a business trip on Nov 26, one day before his ex-wife's wedding; he seem to be affected by the news and left the meeting before it ended. In face with the media, he merely smiled and wished Chu "Good Luck" in her second marriage. Chu was married to Fok in 1978 and divorced in 2004.
Lo set up Shui On Group in 1971 after his graduation in Australia. The development of Xintiandi in Shanghai made his name. In year 2000, he divorced his then-wife whom he had a son and a daughter with. Lo have assets worth S$5,400 million but the recent economy crisis has shrunk the value.
