Roger Kwok & Moses Chan - In search of breakthrough
Channel NewsAsia - Saturday, November 29
"Ah Wong" successfully transforms
Playing the same role in 2003's "Square Peg" and 2005's "Life Made Simple", Hong Kong actor Roger Kwok is presented the TVB's "Best Actor" award for both performances as "Ah Wong". This year, Kwok is nominated for TVB's "My Favorite Male Character" award; he tells Xin.sg that he attended the award ceremony in a light-hearted mood this year as cheers for him were not exceptionally loud.
"This year's winners are true to their name. Recognizing the efforts of these actors will stimulate them towards better work. At the same time, it also comforts the actors for the hard work they've put in all these years," Kwok says.
While he was not nominated for "Best Actor" this time round, Kwok is glad to have received the recognition previously. He shares that the exhilarating feelings are still vivid to his memories.
Having been in the industry for many years, Roger confesses that it was only after his villain role in drama "Last One Standing" that he realized his strength and potential. This has given him much confidence in his career. Roger faces off Kevin Cheng, TVB's "Best Actor" 2006, in the drama to play out the battle between good and evil in the grounds of grey area.
Rise in market value after being awarded the "Best Actor" award
Winner for last year's "Best Actor" award and nominee for the same award this year, actor Moses Chan attended the recent ceremony dressed in style with two diamond studs on his left ear. Chan denies a rise in his market value but he admits that job opportunities have increased.
Having played many different roles and personalities in his career, Chan shares that his colorful personality. He is, however, still looking for a fresh new breakthrough in the upcoming parts that he may take on.
Chan has worked alongside and partnered up many actresses, he says, "I would still prefer to get more chances to work new blood in the industry to create new spark and chemistry."
In light of the current economic downturn, Xin.sg finds out from Chan if he has suffered the impact in his investment. "I'm rather careful with my investments. I don't put all that I have into investments, and whatever I put in, I'm more or less prepared to lose it. Moreover, I practice long term investment, so pitfalls along the way don't really matter to me," he comments.
