Wu Jiahui clinches music awards in Malaysia
Channel NewsAsia - Saturday, November 29
After clinching the "Most Outstanding New Comer" award at the Singapore Hits Awards on Oct 25, local singer Wu Jiahui recently also took down two prestigious music awards with his debut album "Although I'm Willing" at a Malaysia awards ceremony.
The "Persatuan Wartawan Hiburan" Music Award is a biennial event organized by Malaysia media. This year the award show was held on Nov 23 at Genting Highlands. Wu clinched the silver award for "Best Newcomer" and his hit song "Although I'm Willing" was one of the "Top Ten Original Song".
It was an emotional episode for Wu to have received three prestigious awards consecutively in Singapore and Malaysia. He thanked his two mentors, Xiao Han and Eric Ng, and everyone in Funkie Monkies who has assisted and encouraged along the way. He was moved to tears to see his mother come all the way from Penang to show her support.
Last month at the Singapore Hits Awards, he too could not control his tears during the media interview when he spoke of his mother.
Wu is currently taking a break back at his hometown in Penang. He is also taking this time recharge and improve himself, and will continue to write songs for other singers.
